JACKSON, Miss. — A huge farewell to Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and first lady Marsha Barbour was held Wednesday night as the governor’s time in office winds down.
Officials said the farewell event at the Jackson Convention Complex also doubled as a fundraiser for the Mississippi Republican Party.
The Mississippi Republican Party said it was its decision to keep the media out of the dinner for the GOP fundraiser.
Instead, the governor talked outside about what he’ll do after January, and he said it won’t have anything to do with government.
