Efforts to construct a civil rights museum next door to a proposed Mississippi history museum hit a snag this week in the Legislature.
Talks broke down late Sunday between House and Senate negotiators, and an agreement was not reached by the midnight deadline.
The chambers are at odds over whether to require private matching funds on the front end.
But those pushing the complementary museums – an effort revived by Gov. Haley Barbour in his State of the State address earlier this year – remain optimistic for a resolution.
