The President’s Volunteer Service Award, is a national honor offered in recognition of volunteer commitment. Established in 2003, this Award is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of 12 months.

Mr. Klingfuss volunteers as a church musician for two Attala County Churches. New Hope Lutheran Church, out from Sallis, Mississippi – Mississippi’s First Lutheran Church (ELCA) founded in 1846. He also serves at Alexander Memorial Presbyterian (PCUSA), an historically Black Presbyterian congregation in Kosciusko, Mississippi.

To earn the President’s Bronze Volunteer Service Award, Mr. Klingfuss volunteered over 100 hours planning and providing musical accompaniment for church services.

“The satisfaction of assisting these congregations to fulfill their ministry in the community is rewarding in itself,” said Mr. Klingfuss. “It is an added honor to be recognized with this award for what I enjoy doing.”

The award is presented to adults at three levels: bronze for 100 to 249 hours served, silver 250-499 hours served, and gold 500 or more hours served. Volunteers can earn an award every twelve months for hours provided in community service. As part of his continuing commitment to those Mississippi churches Mr. Klingfuss is documenting his hours to earn the President’s Silver Award (250+ hours) for volunteer service this next year.

“This honor is a good example of the caliber of people we have working in our office,” said Attorney General Jim Hood. “Jeff is always quick to volunteer his talents to this office when needed for staff functions, and we are happy for him to receive this national honor.”
