STARKVILLE – Dan Mullen isn’t yet ready to nail anything down as he assembles a coaching staff. His main concern is finding all the right pieces.
Then he can hammer out the details.
Mississippi State’s new football coach added another piece Monday when he announced the hiring of Les Koenning, who Bulldog fans will remember as Rockey Felker’s running backs and receivers coach from 1986-89 in Starkville.
The 49-year-old has made several stops since then, including offensive coordinator posts at Alabama and Texas A&M. This past year, he served in that role for South Alabama’s fledgling program.
“Les is a great addition to our staff and he’s an innovative offensive mind,” Mullen said. “He’s been around football his entire life and has a wealth of experience on the offensive side of the ball.”
