The campaign for the Republican nomination for State Treasurer offers three qualified but very different candidates.
Lynn Fitch was selected by Gov. Haley Barbour to serve as Executive Director of the Mississippi State Personnel Board. In the past she has worked for the Mississippi House of Representatives and the Mississippi Attorney General.
Lucien Smith served Gov. Barbour as a budget advisor and legal counsel. In that capacity he worked with Gov. Barbour to streamline government and argued in support of maintaining our state’s tort reform achievements and in opposition to the constitutionality of President Obama’s healthcare mandates.
Lee Yancey is finishing a term as a state Senator from parts of Rankin and Madison counties and formerly worked for the Mississippi Baptist Convention.
