No stay despite issue of DNA
Attorney general maintains evidence overwhelming

Attorney General Jim Hood says regardless of claims by attorneys for a death row inmate set to be executed Tuesday, further DNA testing would not exonerate him.

Willie Jerome Manning’s attorneys asked the state Supreme Court on Monday to stop his execution and allow him to seek post-conviction DNA testing of evidence from the investigation into the 1992 slayings of Jon Steckler and Tiffany Miller, two college students, insisting that DNA testing will show he’s innocent.
