SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Two teams converge between yellow goal posts here next weekend. Both spent Saturday growing closer to the stability and success that’s eluded them of late. Each has taken a different road, one no less traveled than the other, to achieve those goals.
Sure, Michigan’s visit to Notre Dame for Game 2 of this season will help both programs discover the college football caste in which they’ll reside in 2010. Both showed signs in Saturday’s openers that they could creep into the elite. And that seems like the end of the similarities.
