OXFORD — The first time Houston Nutt ever saw Mike Gundy was on the practice field during two-a-days at Oklahoma State in the summer of 1986.
Nutt was a young assistant coach for the Cowboys while Gundy was a freshman quarterback – and a very good one at that.
“He was pretty confident stepping in that huddle,” Nutt said. “Once he got his chance as a true freshman, we knew we only wanted one person in that huddle. He knew how to move those chains.”
