Out of Bounds live from Annandale for the Viking Classic – Big weekend for college football

This is arguably the best week in sports. The weather is changing, the PGA is in town,it’s a huge weekend for college football and we get the Ryder Cup. In college football, we should start to separtate the contenders from the pretenders. Florida v. Bama is huge. And how about the line hovering around +9 for the Crimson Tide? Don’t forget Florida will put just as many 5-star High school All-americans on the field as Alabama this weekend. I can’t wait to see how Florida’s D stacks up against Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.
Trey Burton, Florida’s new hybrid/Freshman QB, that scored 6 touchdowns last week, could make a difference if Florida’s offense bogs down with John Brantley under center. Look for special teams and field position to play a big role in this game, too.

Stanford v. Oregon
The Pac-10 finally has some swagger. This game features two big-time, young, up and coming coahces in Jim Harbaugh and Chip Kelly. Stanford went to South Bend mopped Notre Dame up in their own stadium last week, while Oregon had a shoot out with Arizona State. The experts are giving Oregon the edge because the game is in Eugene, but I wouldn’t count out Harbaugh and The Cardinal. This will be Harbaugh’s last season at Stanford. I have to believe Harbaugh will head to the NFL after leading Stanford to a great season. The winner is a big-time front runner for the Rose Bowl. Of course, the winner could be in the National Championship race, too.

Oklahoma v. Texas
After UCLA rushed for 234 yds on the mighty Muschamp led Longhorn defense – we all know how weak the Big 12 is this year. Oklahoma didn’t look any better last at Cincinnati. This is still a big game in Dallas, TX this weekend. I expect both teams to play better, and the Sooners should win. If Texas loses this weekend, they play Nebraska the next weekend. Can you imagine what the tea-sippers will think if a Mack Brown team loses three in a row?

The Viking Classic….great golf, beautiful women, outstanding weather and excellent food….Are you ready? Viking Range Corp. once again will throw one of the biggest parties in the South? The weather will be perfect after 21 inches of rain washed the tourney out last year. Don’t forget guys….Ladies day is Saturday. They’ll be more talent in the Viking tent than on the course.

From the heart of the SEC….
