With the cut of a ribbon, Pass Christian took another step in its long term recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
“I think part of redeveloping post disaster is building sustainable communities. That would be building green housing, building substantially out of flood plans, building them to 145 mile an hour winds and that’s what these cottages are,” said developer Joe Cloyd.
The Cottages at 2nd Street is a unique housing development because it is the result of a public, private and nonprofit partnership.
“You got to look at the partnerships. We have private, public and nonprofit agencies all coming together to provide a community need,” said Congressman Steven Palazzo. “Seeing these positive trends to the private sector and public partnership is something positive it’s something we should embrace.”
