Palazzo has his to-do list, committee wish list set

GULFPORT — State Rep. Steven Palazzo had a busy first day as a congressman-elect Wednesday, talking with the incoming Republican House leadership and Mississippi’s delegation about challenges ahead and starting to put together a transition team.

“I’m working hard to get ready,” Palazzo said. “With a lame-duck session coming up, you don’t know what’s going to happen, and we’ll have our plate full in January, repealing the Obama health-care plan, making tax cuts permanent and building coalitions and friendships, so when we need something in South Mississippi, we will have those contacts and coalitions to get things done.”

Palazzo said he talked with the staff of Republican House Speaker-apparent John Boehner, putting in his request for armed services, transportation and other committee assignments pertinent to the district Palazzo will serve in Congress.
