Pascagoula residents narrowly reject 2 percent food & beverage tax

Residents had the opportunity to go to the polls to allow their voices to be heard in regard to the hotly contested 2 percent food and beverage tax. While some were heavily in favor with the tax increase, a great percentage were not.

According to the poll results, 56% were for the tax hike, while 44% voted against the tax. In order for the referendum to have passed, 60% of those voting were required to vote “yes.”
