Pastner steps up, brings in top class in first year at Memphis

Memphis coach Josh Pastner has been recruiting and coaching basketball since he was 16.
Back then, his father, Hal, let Pastner be a player-coach for his AAU team in Houston. Pastner says he recruited players, coached and helped coordinate the team’s cross-country travels.

That experience set Pastner on a course to be an undergraduate assistant and later full-time assistant coach for Arizona, where he established himself as a strong recruiter. Last season he became a Memphis assistant, and his track record as a recruiter continued.
