As he has done in the past, Reeves is having some sort of pre-session summit/retreat with some of his top lieutenants, committee chairmen.
I’m told the event is planned for Wednesday at Quail Ridge Lodge in Louisville.
Noteably not on the guest list: members of the Senate Conservative Coalition, four of whom are committee chairmen, including McDaniel (Election Committee). Others are Sens. Michael Watson (Constitution Committee), Perry Lee (Local and Private Committee) and Melanie Sojourner (Forestry Committee).
Not surprising, given some of the criticism of Reeves recently from the Conservative Coalition, particularly a piece penned by Watson over Common Core education standards, essentially saying Reeves should step down.
The Conservative Coalition now has 10 members, down from 11 after Sen. Will Longwitz had a falling out with the group. The Senate has a 32-member Republican majority.
