GEOFF PENDER: Gunn vows to push for campaign finance reform

House Speaker Philip Gunn says a top priority for the legislative session starting in two weeks is passing campaign finance reform, a measure that late last session died an ignoble death in the House he leads.

“Campaign finance is something we would like to see passed,” Gunn said in a recent pre-session interview, where he listed campaign-finance reform among his top three priorities. Gunn, who had initially questioned the need for reform, vowed at the end of the 2016 session that he had nothing to do with a reform bill’s last-minute failure and that he would push for passage in 2017.
