Jackson Mayor Frank Melton refused to budge during a meeting Tuesday with Jackson police officers opposed to his recent police appointments.

For nearly two hours, four representatives of the Jackson Police Officer Association and Melton discussed in a closed meeting at JPD headquarters Melton’s decision last week to elevate his bodyguard Michael Recio from sergeant to assistant chief.

“There were some things we wanted to happen in this meeting that didn’t,” said Juan Cloy, president of the union, which represents more than 100 officers.
