The attorney for a Georgia business executive says it wasn’t his client’s fault that the Mississippi Beef Plant project failed.
In a document filed Monday, attorney Joel Froelich Jr. of Atlanta asked District Judge Michael P. Mills that defendant CK Morehead be spared prison time because his family needs him.
Instead, Froelich asks that Morehead receive probation and home confinement.
“It is important to remember in this case that none of CK’s actions were responsible for the failure of the Mississippi Beef Project,” states Froelich.
It failed, the attorney said, because the plant didn’t have enough cattle to process and because owner Richard Hall conned the state to invest “in the ill conceived and mismanaged project.”
