PSC to push for expanded Internet service

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says the state is working with the Federal Communications Commission to improve cellular service in underserved and unserved rural areas.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that Presley, in a speech in Maben this week, said expanded cellular service is part of the PSC’s initiative called “Zap the Gap.”

“We’ve asked rural communities to tell us where the service gaps are. We’re working … to make sure areas in Mississippi that are unserved or underserved are in fact getting the federal money to get the towers built in those areas.
