Rankin school board prez resigns amid MDOC investigation

Rankin County School Board President Cecil McCrory resigned suddenly in a letter to Vice President David “Grumpy” Farmer on Wednesday.

Sources close to the investigation into the Mississippi Department of Corrections confirm that McCrory is under examination in the case.

McCrory owned at least two businesses that contracted with MDOC. The department has paid American Transition Service, one of McCrory’s businesses, $1.4 million in contract from 2009 to 2012.
