Rebels Pound Out 16 Hits In 14-4 Win Over Austin Peay

OXFORD, Miss. – Rory McKean turned in a solid performance on the mound, while the Rebels pounded out 16 hits to lead No. 17 Ole Miss (10-2) to a 14-4 win over Austin Peay (8-4) on Tuesday night at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The game was the first of a two-game set in the mid-week for the Rebels against the Governors. Wednesday’s game has been moved to a 3 p.m. start time due to the expectation of inclement weather.

Tim Ferguson and Kevin Mort paced a torrid Rebel offense right out of the gates. Ferguson hit a home run in the Rebels’ first at bat and went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Mort went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Six Rebels tallied multiple hits on the night in the win, including left-handed pitcher Matt Tracy, who served as designated hitter. Tracy was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
