Governor Phil Bryant Sets Special Elections for House District 89 and House District 106

Jackson, Miss. – Gov. Phil Bryant has set special elections for Nov. 8 to fill vacant seats in Mississippi House of Representatives districts 89 and 106.

The qualifying deadline for each is Oct. 10. District 89, which encompasses parts of Jones County, became vacant when former Rep. Bobby Shows retired. District 106 encompasses parts of Lamar and Pearl River counties. The seat opened when former Rep. Herb Frierson was appointed commissioner of revenue.

If no candidate receives a majority of the vote on Nov. 8, a runoff will be held on Nov. 29.
