A few weeks ago, there was a little dust up created by my comments about taking over Jackson. Those comments led to a broader discussion about the financial stability of our municipalities and school districts and available options in cases where institutional mismanagement has created a real threat of financial insolvency which led to a review of the current law which in turn led to the first draft of the Mississippi Local Financial Stability and Choice Act. The short title is attached. We will be working with interested parties over the summer to work out technical and other related issues. I should point out that there is no reference to any specific local government in the bill.
