U.S. Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn., and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., are among the celebrity cast for “A Mid-Session Night’s Dream,” a comedy fundraiser for the Washington-based Shakespeare Theatre Company.
“The Will on the Hill” play spoofs William Shakespeare’s “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream,” and runs just one night, May 4.
The play “follows the path of a young Senate page who falls asleep during a filibuster and is visited by the spirit of William Shakespeare,” according to the theatre’s release. “Together, like a modern-day Puck and Oberon, the two travel throughout the capital … to resolve conflicts, expose hypocrisy and magically transform Washington into a very Shakespearean utopia.”
