Saban unplugged

Iron Bowl victory allows coach to be introspective about his perfect team

TUSCALOOSA – Nick Saban left the door ajar just a bit on Saturday night. He let us all peek in for a moment.

It’s usually slammed shut and double-bolted with a “No Trespassing” sign affixed to it. All the better to eliminate those “externals” that might somehow deter the focus and direction and attention of this University of Alabama football team.
However, in the aftermath of the 36-0 evisceration of Auburn, Saban left it cracked open enough to see inside. Inside to the team. And inside Saban.
He even professed that this is “one of my favorites of all time in terms of guys to coach.”
High praise from a coach who loathes comparisons.
