As it stands now, the biggest office going for GOP challengers in 2015 is that of attorney general, held by the only statewide elected Democrat left, Jim Hood.
More than a few names have been linked to possible runs, including that of Rep. Mark Baker, R-Brandon. After last night, consider his name — at least for now — at the very top of the list.
Baker, who chairs the House Judiciary A committee, was a conservative leader when the Republicans were in the minority, and he is known as a key lieutenant for Speaker Phillip Gunn under the Republican majority.
He is also candid about considering a statewide run.
