Scruggs files motion to open sealed transcripts

Former attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs has asked a federal judge to open sealed grand jury transcripts involving his judicial bribery conviction.

The former Mississippi lawyer was one of the wealthiest tort attorneys in the nation.

Scruggs’ request says the grand jury long ago closed its investigation and former testimony from now disbarred Hinds County District Attorney Ed Peters, who received immunity, might clarify incorrect facts now in the public domain.
