The process to replace ousted State Health Officer Dr. Brian Amy begins today when a state Board of Health committee meets for the first time.

“We’d like to do this in three or four months, but we’re not going to let the time frame rush us,” said Dr. Ed Hill of Tupelo, who chairs the search committee that meets at 8:30 a.m.

He’d like to have the new state health officer in place by the end of the year, he said, “but if we don’t find the right person, we’re not going to push.”
