So the attention this season is expected to turn to the West. Alabama headlines the way, but several other teams are projected to be pretty good, too.
LSU is expected to have a top-notch defense once again. The key here is the development of Jordan Jefferson. In his second full year as a starter, Jefferson has got to show more consistency and progress than he did in 2009. The schedule is tough. The Tigers start the season in Atlanta against North Carolina, expected to be an ACC contender. They do get Alabama at home, but go on the road to play UF, Auburn and Arkansas.
