Against long odds, Republicans held control of the Senate on Tuesday night, with Sen. Roger Wicker at the helm of the organization leading the drive.
Republican control of the House did not appear to waver, in unofficial results.
Although most eyes in Mississippi were focused on the presidential race, the state has a lot riding on the battle for control of the Senate, and Wicker has been the tip of the spear in the GOP battle to keep control, serving as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
“Roger Wicker has done a tremendous job,” said GOP strategist and consultant Austin Barbour. “If he pulls this off tonight (GOP keeps control), he’ll be the belle of the ball. Roger Wicker deserves much applause.”
