The Senate Elections Committee passed a bill this afternoon that would require voters to show identification at the polls.

Senate Bill 2468 would allow voters to show ID — which could include a social security card, driver’s license or passport, among several other forms. The ID does not have to have a photo on it.

“This is really lax, but I think it gets us moving in the right direction of trying to maintain the integrity of our elections,” Senate Elections Chairman Terry Burton, R-Newton, said.
