Gov. Haley Barbour on his last day in office issued 13 pardons in murder cases, most of which involve the shooting or beating deaths of women at the hands of their estranged husbands or boyfriends.
That was Tuesday.
Last Friday, Barbour issued four other “full, complete and unconditional” pardons to convicted murderers. At the end of his 2008 term in office, Barbour granted three other full pardons to murderers and one indefinite suspension to another man convicted of murder.
The Sun Herald took a closer look at five of the convicted murderers pardoned Tuesday.
