Moran says experience is key

BILOXI — Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran says her experience in the trenches of job creation, economic development and government finance — and her education — make her the top choice for state treasurer in November.

Moran, 55, a Democrat, faces Republican Lynn Fitch on Nov. 8 for the treasurer’s post, which is being vacated by Tate Reeves, who is running for lieutenant governor.

Moran, the second-term mayor of Ocean Springs, for years was the main salesperson for Mississippi in Europe, running the state’s economic development office in Germany. She had previously worked as an economist at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
