Southaven hearing seeks public input on eminent domain, voter ID, abortion

The first of a series of nine public hearings on three ballot initiatives in the Nov. 8 general election was held Thursday evening in Southaven.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann and his staff hosted the 5:30 p.m. hearing at the DeSoto Civic Center.

Hosemann opened the meeting with an explanation about the initiatives on eminent domain, voter identification and abortion or definition of personhood.

He told the crowd of about 100 that the initiatives are “huge constitutional issues” and his job is to educate the public and get input before the vote in November.
