Special election set for Jackson Council seat

Once qualifying is completed, the clerk’s office will be open for absentee voting, including 8 a.m. to noon the final two Saturdays before the election – Feb. 5 and 12.
Lobbyist Quentin Whit-well was first to declare himself a candidate to represent the northeast Jackson ward.
Other potential candidates include Marcus Ward, an associate vice president at Alcorn State University and former chief of staff to the late Mayor Frank Melton; lawyer Reginald Harrion; and physician Jonathan Jones.
