US House races are beginning to take shape across the South. Some recent developments:
Mississippi: Two Republican state senators are considering running against sophomore US Rep. Travis Childers (D) in the 1st District (Tupelo, etc.) next year. State Sen. Alan Nunnelee, chairman of the state Senate Appropriations Committee, has indicated he might run. In addition, state Sen. Merle Flowers is considering a bid. However, the two lawmakers are friends and are not likely run against each other in a primary, reports Washington’s Roll Call newspaper.
