State Auditor Stacey Pickering was the keynote speaker for the Petal Kiwanis Club 18th annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. He said Christian beliefs and prayer guide his decision-making.
“We are commanded as civic leaders to depend upon God with all that we do,” he said. “If we’re going to change Petal, the state or this country, we have to live with a sense of priority, not just purpose.”
Pickering said he knows that people pray over issues facing Petal, the state and the country, but it isn’t a new practice.
“We wring our hands and get concerned about the direction of our country, of our children and our schools and on and on,” he said. “But that’s an American characteristic.”
