Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann may best be remembered for his campaign commercials sitting on a bench, but he seems aimed at creating a legacy of improving how businesses operate in Mississippi.

One of his first initiatives is to test the creation of a business court system within the judicial system that would specialize in business cases, except medical malpractice and punitive damage cases.

Three states have statewide courts, and about 17 others have local or regional business courts.

Shortly after taking office in July, he gathered dozens of business leaders, attorneys and lawmakers from around the state to examine the concept.
