State Auditor Stacey Pickering issued the following update regarding the arraignment of five individuals recently indicted in Alcorn County:
Suspended Alcorn County Purchase Clerk William Paul Rhodes, along with Alcorn County vendors Joseph Lin McNair Jr., Danny Roy Peters, and Jimmy Ray Mitchell were arraigned Tuesday in Alcorn County Circuit Court.
Rhodes, who was previously charged with 13 felony counts, plead not guilty and had a bond set at $30,000.00. Mitchell, who was previously charged with 32 felony counts, plead not guilty and had his bond set at $20,000.00 dollars. Both McNair, who faces 31 felony counts, and Peters, who was charged with 27 felony counts, each plead not guilty and had their bonds set at $10,000.00 each. All four individuals are due back in court on March 19, 2015.
The arraignment of Second District Supervisor Jimmy Dal Nelms was delayeduntil March 20, 2015 in order to give Nelms time to find an attorney after his attempt to be declared indigent was denied by the court.
