State loses a judge with heart who presided over Katrina cases

It was as if an oak tree fell when retired U.S. District Judge L.T. Senter Jr. died Wednesday, said his dear friend and former colleague, U.S. District Judge Glen Davidson of Aberdeen.

Davidson said he spent about two hours with Senter on Sunday at Tracewood Retirement Community in Tupelo. Senter, 77, had been admitted to gain strength for needed heart surgery, but was rushed Wednesday morning to North Mississippi Medical Center, where he died.

“He was an outstanding jurist,” Davidson said, “fair but firm, dedicated to the rule of law and equal justice for all litigants.”
