Stoops makes new hire?

According to several media outlets, Oklahoma appears to have filled the vacancy for a defensive assistant coach.

Rivals.com was the first to report that OU coach Bob Stoops will hire former Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez to fill the vacancy on his staff.

Martinez was fired by Georgia following last season, but wasn’t out of a job. He’d reportedly been hired by Stanford to coach defensive backs. Nothing has been made official at either school. Stanford never announced the hiring and OU hasn’t confirmed its hire.

Martinez, though, would seem to fit what Sooner coach Bob Stoops is looking for.
