A Jackson police sting aimed at street-level prostitutes, escorts and their clients, netted six arrests Saturday.
“Operation Cupid” began Thursday as a way to deter prostitution because of its link with other criminal activity and its negative impact on the quality of life, police said.
“It’s something that everyone has sort of looked the other way, but it is something that needs to be addressed, and we have placed a lot of importance developing a strategic plan to address this,” police spokesman Sgt. Jeffery Scott said. “Everyone wants a better, safer Jackson, and we think this is a good place to start.”
