Sun Herald – Steve Simpson may announce bid for AG next week

Counting Hewes, South Mississippi could have at least four candidates in statewide races. Pass Christian’s Dave Dennis is running as a GOP candidate for governor. Dennis is chairman of Specialty Contractors, and served three terms as chairman of the New Orleans Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Board, among other roles. Pearl River County Supervisor Hudson Holliday is also running as a Republican candidate for governor.

Mississippi Public Safety Commissioner Stephen Simpson of Gulfport could announce next week whether he’ll run as a Republican for attorney general, challenging Democrat incumbent Jim Hood. Simpson, whom Barbour appointed in 2008 to his post, is a former Coast circuit judge and prosecutor.
