Vacant waterfront lots motivate U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor to fight even harder for a multiple-perils insurance bill when he returns to Washington.
“Look at this,” Taylor said Wednesday, of properties in Gulfport, the state’s second-largest city. He said people won’t build back until they are able to buy insurance they can depend on.
Taylor said he is trying to convince senators to support the addition of wind coverage to the National Flood Insurance Program. The House passed the bill he co-sponsored, but wind coverage was not included in a bill the Senate banking committee approved.
