A Houston, Texas-based nonprofit plans to open a 180-bed drug and alcohol treatment center in Jackson.

Bill Bailey, president and chief operating officer for The Cenikor Foundation, said his group has been working with state and local officials to find a commercial building to house its residential program.

“We’ve received a very positive response to locating a facility in Jackson,” he said.

The proposed facility will treat and house people with drug and alcohol problems for 18 months to two years. The program includes educational and job training, Bailey said.
