For the record, Tommy Tuberville left no doubt he wants to be at Texas Tech.
More importantly, after a year away from the sidelines and three weeks in Lubbock, Tuberville believes he has found the right place at the right time to renew his coaching career.
Despite his unwavering stance, he has been questioned by friends and colleagues. They wondered if Tuberville had finished kicking himself for taking the Tech job just before Lane Kiffin bolted Tennessee for Southern California. Tuberville, with a long record of success and established Southeastern Conference ties, would have been a top candidate for Rocky Top.
“People ask me, ‘Do you think you took a job too quick?’ No, I took the job that was perfect for me,” Tuberville said Thursday in an interview in Dallas.
“It’s a different conference. I get a chance to coach against different coaches in different stadiums. It’s kind of like a shot of adrenalin in the arm.”
