Traffic camera company suing state over law banning cameras

Mississippi law enforcement officials praise traffic cameras at intersections as an effective tool in enforcing traffic laws and reducing accidents.

But most legislators and citizens see them as a “Big Brother” intrusion and question their accuracy.

In 2009, then-Gov. Haley Barbour signed into law legislation banning the cameras used in cities and counties to record tag numbers of vehicles allegedly running traffic lights.
