Brad Morris filed paperwork on Thursday afternoon as a candidate for Congress in Mississippi’s First Congressional District. A small businessman and attorney in Oxford, Morris grew up in rural Itawamba County. He served as Chief of Staff and a senior advisor to former Congressman Travis Childers.

Brad Morris issued the following statement as he entered the race for Congress:

“At the heart of this election is a choice of whether we have a Congress that is focused on growing the middle class or a Congress that is focused on protecting the interests of a privileged few. America is at its best when we all have an opportunity to improve ourselves and our family, no matter where we start in life. I am a product of those opportunities, and I want to give working families the voice they deserve in this election and in Congress.”

Thursday’s filing registered Morris as a Congressional candidate before Friday’s qualifying deadline. Morris will formally kick off his campaign with a more detailed announcement and tour of the district in the coming days.
