Incumbent Republican State Treasurer Tate Reeves is unopposed in his party’s primary and will advance to the November General Election. Democratic nominee Shawn O’Hara is unopposed in the Democratic Primary and will also advance.

That said, O’Hara’s long history as a perennial but unsuccessful statewide candidate makes his chances at unseating Reeves in November improbable at best. Readers will remember that O’Hara sought to qualify as a Democratic candidate to simultaneously seek all eight statewide offices in the 2007 elections plus five regional offices and nine offices in Forrest County.
