Attorney General Hood intends to retry woman represented by the Innocence Project

The Attorney General’s office will retry two women convicted of aggravated assault in 2001 after a status conference in Lincoln County Circuit Court Monday in Brookhaven.

Attorney General Jim Hood’s office has said they will pursue a new trial against Leigh Stubbs, 32, and Tammy Vance, 43, whose aggravated assault convictions were overturned earlier this summer.

The two were released in late June after Circuit Judge Michael Taylor vacated their sentences, finding the original verdict was based on questionable video and the testimony of questionable bitemark expert, Michael West.
