HOOVER, ALA. — During his 10 seasons at Arkansas, football coach Houston Nutt learned it’s wise not to crown any champions or label any doormats in the preseason, especially when the Southeastern Conference is being discussed.
And even though he’s changed programs, leaving Arkansas for Ole Miss, the first-year Rebel coach says that philosophy hasn’t changed.
“I think there’s nine or 10 teams that can win a championship in our league,” Nutt said. “I really mean that. If you just look from top to bottom, just look at the athletes, nine or 10 teams easily could win our league.”
And yes, Nutt said he certainly considers Ole Miss as a part of that group.
